|a In this paper we deal with the problem of getting distributed data onto a Web site. We present four patterns that can be utilized to achieve a successful solution in that endeavor. Each individual pattern is a way of solving part of this general problem. In these patterns XML proves to be a smart way to achieve the goal. Through examples, we show precise solutions that can be used alone or combined. They can be especially useful when developers need to get data that belong to opaque systems, when the separation of data from processing is a must, and when data have to cross platform boundaries. The patterns use the power of XML to share data between distributed sources as well as to transform XML data on behalf of the user view.
