Sobre la estabilidad y fuerza categórica del republicanismo de Pettit

| Resumen: | John Rawls y Ronald Dworkin han destacado dos requisitos que toda concep- ción normativa de la política debe satisfacer. El primero ha subrayado la impor- tancia de la estabilidad y el segundo la de la fuerza categórica. Argumento que aunque el republicanismo defendido por Philip Pettit, concentrado en la defensa de la libertad entendida como no dominación, puede ofrecer una respuesta al pro- blema de la estabilidad, no es capaz de lograr fuerza categórica. Y si tomamos su reciente revisión de la posición que había sostenido en Republicanismo en rela- ción a los casos en los que el Estado está autorizado a perseguir el bien común, su republicanismo tampoco cumple con la pretensión de ser estable. John Rawls and Ronald Dworkin have highlighted two requirements any normative political conception needs to meet. The former has stressed the importance of stability; the latter, that of categorical force. I argue that even though the republicanism defended by Philip Pettit, focused on the promotion of freedom as non-domination, may provide an answer to the problem of stability, it fails to achieve categorical force. Moreover, if we consider Pettit's recent revision of the stance he held in Republicanism regarding the cases in which the State is authorized to pursue the common good, his republicanism thus revised then fails even to meet the stability requirement. |
