AB  - En el contexto del auge de la semiología francesa, Paul de Man intenta animar una polémica contra Roland Barthes por medio de un texto que no es admitido para su publicación. A pesar de su fracaso editorial, el texto posee un gran valor tanto para el estudio del estructuralismo, como para interpretar la obra de Paul de Man. En efecto, en este ensayo Paul de Man presenta argumentos que lo distancian del pensamiento estructural de Barthes y que tematizarán su obra posterior. Este ensayo busca revisar los reparos que Paul de Man manifiesta en relación a Barthes y cómo el desarrollo de estas disidencias teóricas da cuenta de la influencia de Kenneth Burke sobre el crítico belga.
AB  - At the height of French semiology, Paul de Man tried to make a polemic with Roland Barthes. His text left unpublished, but it is still of great importance for the study of structuralism, and to read Paul de Man's work. Indeed, De Man's essay shows arguments against Roland Barthes which will be then topics of his further works. This essay aims to be a review about Paul de Man's theoretical problems with Roland Barthes and how the development of these arguments shows the main influence of Kenneth Burke's work on the Belgian critic.
