| Resumen: | Muy poco se ha escrito sobre la discusión de Hume en torno a los animales, a pesar del corte antirracionalista y naturalista de su proyecto filosófico.El filósofo reflexiona sobre los animales a partir de la comparación con los hombres, como un modo de legitimar sus conclusiones acerca de la naturaleza humana, atribuyéndoles a ambos casi los mismos principios y operaciones: esto hace difícil esclarecer en qué consiste la especificidad de lo humano. Nos proponemos abordar la cuestión revisando las características que Hume atribuye a hombres y animales por igual, para luego determinar qué es lo privativo del hombre.En este sentido, resultan fundamentales el razonamiento abstracto, la capacidad inventiva, la sociabilidad y, en el ámbito moral, el sentimiento de humanidad. Despite its importance for his anti-rationalist and naturalizing philosophical project, very little has been written on Humes discussion of animals. Hume reflects on animals by comparison with humans, as a way of enlarging the grounds of his conclusions about human nature. Thus, he concedes almost the same principles and operations to both of them, which renders the clarification of human peculiarities difficult to distinguish. This work will intend to address this question by looking over the features that Hume concedes to both animals and men, and then turning to what is specific to human beings. In that sense, abstract reasoning, inventive skill, sociability, and, in the moral field, the sentiment of humanity, are fundamental features. |
