¿Qué le aporta la neuroética a la ética?

| Resumen: | El objetivo de este trabajo es evaluar en qué consisten los aportes que realiza la neuroética a la ética teórica. Para ello se abordan cuatro temas clásicos a los que la nueva disciplina presta especial atención: la oposición libertad /determinismo, la génesis de la moral, el alcance universal o relativo de los juicios morales y, por último, los mecanismos mediante los cuales se formulan los juicios morales. Luego de analizar el tratamiento que se otorga a estos temas en la literatura neurocientífica se concluye que, al menos en relación con las tres primeras cuestiones, los descubrimientos provenientes de este campo no proveen de argumentos convincentes que permitan arbitrar a favor de alguna de las posiciones filosóficas que tradicionalmente debatieron entre sí. The aim of this article is to investígate what contribution neurotics may make to theoretical ethics. In particular, the article considers four familiar topics to which this emergent discipline pays special attention, namely: the opposition between freedom and determinism; the genesis of morals; the universal scope of moral judgments; and the processes through which moral judgments are formulated. After analyzing the treatment that these topics receive in the neuroscientific literatura, the article concludes that the recent discoveries in this field fail to illuminate the more traditional ethics debates at least in terms of the first three issues I have mentioned. |
