AB  - En el artículo, consideramos al semanario Caras y Caretas en el período 1898 (momento de su lanzamiento) hasta 1916 (hito en la democratización de inicios de siglo). Primero, lo estudiamos como fuente en tanto permite comenzar a indagar en el proceso de construcción de la política con imágenes. Luego, abordamos la institución de imágenes de lo político a partir del estudio de caricaturas de portada. La distinción entre la política y lo político así como los intensos vínculos entre palabras e imágenes recorren este trabajo.
AB  - In the article, we consider the weekly Caras y Caretas in the period 1898 (moment of its launch) until 1916 (milestone in the democratization of the beginning of the century). First, we study it as a source insofar as it allows us to begin to investigate the process of constructing politics with images. Then, we approach the institution of images of the political from the study of cover cartoons. The distinction between the politics and the political and the intense links between words and images run through this work.
