AB  - La historiografía oficial uruguaya, articulada por la escuela tradicional de orientación nacionalista, atribuyó a la Revolución de Mayo de 1810 una dimensión subsidiaria. Su crónica es generalmente breve y está contextualizada en relatos geográficamente circunscriptos a la Banda Oriental. Este artículo pretende analizar la interpretación de los acontecimientos de Mayo de 1810 realizada por los principales articuladores de la tesis independentista clásica -Francisco Bauzá, Pablo Blanco Acevedo y Juan Pivel Devoto- e identificar el rol atribuido a la misma en el marco general del discurso nacionalista.
AB  - The Uruguayan official historiography, articulated by the traditional school of nationalist orientation, attributed a subsidiary magnitude to the Revolution of May of 1810. Its chronicle is generally brief, and in a context based on stories geographically restricted to the Banda Oriental. This article leads to analyze the interpretation of the events of May of 1810 carried out by the main promoters of the classic pro-independence thesis - Francisco Bauzá, Pablo Blanco Acevedo and Juan Pivel Devoto -and, to identify the attributed role within the general framework of the nationalist discourse.
